IELTS is the International English Language Testing System which tests English proficiency across the globe. The tests are conducted up to four times a month. You can choose from two types of IELTS tests: academic or general training.

The Academic format is for those who wish to study or train in an English-speaking university or Institutions of Higher and Further Education. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the results of the Academic test. The minimum band score for University admissions is band 7.

General Training

The General Training format is focused primarily on those who are going to English-speaking countries to undertake secondary education, work experience or training programmes. People migrating to Australia, Canada and New Zealand must sit the General Training test.

There is no pass or fail in IELTS. Candidates are graded on their performance, using scores from 1 to 9 for each part of the test. The test includes sections in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The results from the four parts then produce an Overall Band Score. IELTS scores have a recommended validity period of two years.
